BSY Dares Siddaramaiah to Dissolve Assembly, Seek Fresh Mandate
In a bold move that has stirred the political waters of Karnataka, former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa issued a daring challenge to the incumbent CM Siddaramaiah on Monday.
Speaking at the concluding event of the BJP-JD(S) alliance’s ‘Mysuru-Chalo Padayatre’ at Maharaja’s College Grounds, Yediyurappa threw down the gauntlet, urging Siddaramaiah to dissolve the state assembly and call for fresh elections if he truly stands behind his government’s performance.
“If you’re confident in your governance, let’s put it to the test,” Yediyurappa proclaimed to an energetic crowd. “Dissolve the assembly and let the people decide. Should we go to the polls now, I’m certain the BJP-JD(S) coalition would secure between 130 to 140 seats, cementing our return to power.”
This provocative statement comes amid a climate of growing dissatisfaction with the current administration, according to Yediyurappa. He didn’t mince words in expressing his disappointment, stating, “The citizens of Karnataka are disheartened by the lack of progress under the present leadership.” The veteran politician confidently predicted that a new election would see voters turning their backs on the Congress party in favor of the BJP-JD(S) alliance.
Yediyurappa didn’t stop at challenging the government’s performance. He also took aim at Siddaramaiah’s personal integrity, referencing contentious allegations brought to light by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi. “Despite Siddaramaiah’s claims of being an upright politician, his track record suggests otherwise,” Yediyurappa remarked pointedly.
The former CM’s critiques extended to Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar as well. Yediyurappa accused Shivakumar of displaying undue arrogance, cautioning, “Shivakumar would do well to remember that true power rests with the electorate. His conduct will not go unnoticed or unpunished by the people.”
Adding another layer to the political discourse, the event also saw the launch of Yediyurappa’s latest literary offering – a book that purportedly exposes various scandals involving Congress leaders, further intensifying the ongoing political debate in Karnataka.
